1. COUNT THE COSTS!
Count the cost of what it will take to start your business. Consider if you need any licenses or certifications. Make a spreadsheet of what you will need to begin and keep track of future expenses. Begin to budget and save for what you need.
Consider who you want to be on your “Money Team”. Who will be your accountant? Attorney? Financial planner? Tax Preparer? How much will they cost? Begin to budget your current income and save for the future.
2. SEEK LEGAL COUNSEL TO SET UP YOUR BUSINESS UP PROPERLY!
Setting up a business can be overwhelming. You may not know all the things you need to do but you know you want to be in accordance with your state laws. This is where legal counsel can come handy. Hiring someone who is experienced in the field will take some weight off of your shoulders and give you a piece of mind that your business will be formed and handled properly!
3. REMEMBER THAT ALL YOU HAVE IS ALL YOU NEED!
This means that you can create a business with what you have in your hands! Look around your house. What do you have? What can you use that you already have to reach your business goals? What gifts and talents come natural to you that you can turn into a business? You don’t have to start out with expensive things. For example, if you want to start a Youtube Channel, you may think you need a full studio and the most elite cameras. But you can use your iPhone, natural light, and a tripod (or stackable books) to get started! Get innovative and creative!
This also means to use the people and resources that are around you! God has placed so many talents and gifts on the inside of us and they could be sitting right across the dinner table from us! Use your tribe!
Running low on money? Think about bartering. Bartering occurs when skills or goods are traded without the exchange of money. For example, Jessica is a photographer and she needs a model for promotional pictures. Jessica has a friend, Ashley, a model that owns a cupcake shop. Jessica finds out that Ashley needs pictures for her new cupcake menu. Jessica can then trade her photography skills in exchange for Ashley’s modeling services. Two needs are met without the exchange of money! And that my friends, is the power of bartering.
AND in addition to that, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin” Zechariah 4:10. The Lord loves to see us begin! In my experience, the more that I work with what I have, God notices and then supplies me with what I need to keep going!
4. ELIMINATE THE NEGATIVE SELF TALK!
Listennnnn! Do not, I repeat do not listen to those negative lies that the enemy may whisper to you. You have so much value to give to this world and someone is waiting on you to shine through! Someone needs your product, service or business! There is room in the marketplace for you. There is no one in the world like you and your business can’t be duplicated because you can’t be duplicated! You are one of a kind!
5. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND YOUR DREAM!
Everyone may not see the vision how you see it. And that’s okay because it’s YOUR vision and dream. You have to cultivate the seed that has planted inside of you. Surround yourself with supportive friends and business partners. Team up with like-minded individuals and collaborate with each other. Believe the dream you have can be achieved! You have the power to make your dream a reality. Don’t stop now! Keep going!
